This is politics made worse by sheer polarization done by both sides. Didn’t start with Trump and won’t end with him. But the Dems really didn’t care much either. I get the first one. I understand why (I don’t agree with it) the choice to hold it till the end. In that time period, the Dems couldn’t be bothered searching for others? Confirming others stories? They put all the eggs in one basket and some got cracked. In recent history there hasn’t been one justice removed for cause. Kav won’t be the first. If the shoe was on the other foot...I have no doubt that Pelosi and Schumer would do the same. The caveat being neither Bush nor Obama would mock a victim or claimed victim of sexual abuse/assault.

I fear for the man. Create a slight bit of doubt and you can do worlds of damage in public opinion. And of course too many on the committee are running for President so they have to get publicity. Flake is indeed a "flake" and I would not vote for him.

Why fear for him? This is politics at it's best (or worse) depending on one's political slant. Republicans have done this to Dems, and right now, the Dems are doing it to them. All's "fair" in love and politics isn't it? He's not going to court, not going to be indicted at all, and won't go to prison for whatever the Dems are going to try and press him on. Not to mention in this case, the "fix" is in. They're already calling for a vote this week....the second the FBI say's they cannot prove one way or the other the accusations are true or not. Dude's going to make it. Now had the shoe been on the other foot, would you "fear" for the Democratic nominee for SCOTUS? I damn sure wouldn't. Being a Justice in SCOTUS isn't about bringing in "justice". It's about leaving a person up thee who will protect your legacy as President, hence it's pure gold when a seat opens up and the President at the time can appoint someone up there. I also don't see folks up in arms when Garland was blocked by McConnell when Obama had the chance to nominate a Justice. McConnell said the next President should have the right to appoint the next Justice. He made that happen, except Obama was the President at the time, and HE was right in being allowed to submit and have the Senate to vote on his pick. Trump NOW has that right. Can't say one is wrong or the others right when it's purely a political game.

This is going to be really fun 20years from now when all the stupid teenagers that are sensing each other dick pics try and get into politics. So, this is not about the Ford thing or the “gamg rape thing” but about the “he showed me his peepee thing”. How about all the kid ds that went streaking in college? As someone who has been flashed before by guys I didn’t care for I can tell you that for me it does not equal sexual assault. The best way to cure that type of behavior is to laugh and ask if they need some tweezers to put that little thing away. Streaking, flashing etc in college does not necissarily translate into deviant sexual behavior as an adult. Otherwise we need to shut down all college parties including the ones centered around sporting events. Also, if you heard someone was calling all your old friends asking about a 30 year old flashing incident why wouldn’t you text them to try and find out what is going on. Holy crap I never flashed anyone but there was a suspected skinny dipping incident years ago. Better call the FBI...

I think this accusation is far more serious than a simple flashing (which by the way is illegal) and/or streaking.

It will show how ignorant and consequential the actions you take as a youth can become costly when you get older. I know folks who've streaked also, but some of them paid a price then with rank and money. One cannot justify behavior solely based on "I was young". If we began using that as a cop out, then the crimes or instances of improper actions get bigger, and we (not you personally) will have to excuse them every time. I could be wrong, but only in the initial claim was he underage. If I'm wrong please correct me. At 18, dude is grown, and expected to be an adult. The AF just sent a female recruit for just saying and making a video using racial slurs. She too was young, and swore that she was just playing and drunk. That behavior isn't against the law anywhere, but to the Air Force it went against their values and norms. So what she did while over 18 and young cost her dearly and she won't recover from it. It may seem both instances have noting to do with the other, but I used the second one only to show being young isn't an excuse for behavior and actions taken.
