The US is to begin withdrawing its troops from Syria, where they are supporting fighters from the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) alliance as they close in on the last pocket of eastern Syria controlled by the jihadist group Islamic State.
"We have won against [IS]," US President Donald Trump declared on 19 December. "Our boys, our young women, our men - they're all coming back, and they're coming back now."
Four years ago, IS militants overran large swathes of Syria and neighbouring Iraq, proclaimed the creation of a "caliphate", and imposed their brutal rule on almost eight million people. Now, they control only about 1% of the territory they once had.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel the attached thread is about a year old when we were ‘kickin @ss’ in Syria. Rallypointers weren’t being too kind on the former President, praising the current one.
I wonder if the RP community (many members are heavily pro President Trump) is now going to pounce on the President for what is generally being considered a poor military decision. President Obama certainly didn’t get the benefit of the doubt.

Nice to see the success again that is achieved when President gives a clear mission and military is able to just do the job. Been a long time since the success of The Surge was squandered by Obama Administration.
