SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint That's a very possible thing, however, I think the only reason that NK slowed down it's provocative behavior is because it got what it wanted - the cessation of US military exercise in South Korea and less restrictive sanctions. KJU's provocation worked exactly how he wanted it to.
NK was on the verge of internal collapse. The people were starving (which is status quo), but the military was starting to fray as well. KJU will stay in power as long as, and ONLY as long as, the military still supports him. Once they and their families stop getting fed, it's only a matter of time before he is ousted. THAT is why KJU ramped up the nuclear testing and development - so that the world (ie the US) would come negotiate to stop it. KJU bought himself another decade in power with little cost. He played to the US ego and pride and it got him exactly what he wanted. The longer he continues "playing nice" the longer his Army is fed and the longer he stays in power - and the longer his people suffer.
