Good morning RP. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Ash and Lightning above an Icelandic Volcano." The eruption at the Eyjafjallajökull volcano that began April 14, 2010 melted a large amount of glacial ice. This water then cooled and fragmented lava into gritty glass particles that were carried up with the rising volcanic plume. Lightning bolts illuminate the ash pouring out of the volcano.
