This reminds me of aviation branch where flight time begets flight time and the rest of us got screwed. Branch personnel managers need to see what you’re not getting and make sure you get it.

Resumes will look the same as the over inflated OERs. I think this process will work one just needs to know where to look for a quality candidate.

I picked this up off FB and that was one of my comments there. Everyone will want "that job" and write a resume to get it.

I am about a month away from PCS and just did this process. I see your points, sir, but what is supposed to happen is branch managers have the final say as to who goes where with a heavy weight on Soldier and unit preferences. Units do not “bid” for people, they are supposed to rank the possibilities. The part I liked about this is the officer is encouraged to communicate with their desired units. I contacted all units in my top five, sent my ORB, and maintained contact with the POC answering any questions they had. My number one choice then ranked me a 1 as well, and boom, I’m going to my first choice. Not saying this is a significant brick on the path to fixing our talent management problems (more like a pebble, really) but there are aspects of it I do like.

MAJ (Join to see) perhaps I am just jaundiced. I see the holes to exploit for ruin and corruption. It’s a step. Maybe it will work.

Sir, legitimate points on all. Also points worth asking. I wish more people asked things like that instead of drinking the kool-aid and saying things like "it is what it is."

Please excuse my ignorance here but where is the talent management part. You linked up with a unit and were subsequently selected. What were the talent metrics criteria that are used?

Sorry, Sir, having trouble responding to this point because I can’t seem to find where in my passage I wrote that my next assignment was a matching based on talent metrics. I don’t think I made that claim. What I did say was there were aspects I did like including encouraged contact with the potential gaining unit. I even said that I was not claiming this was significant step to fixing talent management problems, just, if any, a tiny one. Are you asking what points came up between me and my discussions with the gaining unit regarding skill needs? LTC (Join to see)
