Unfortunately SGT (Join to see) for some people all that matters is pro-vs-gun control and not the nuances of someone's position. I also care about their other positions but I know some do not.

No point in trying to update of fix the misnamed FOPA -- the only states where it was ever needed have always ignored it entirely. Instead of trying to fix the unfixable, just delete the entire act, including the damned Hughes Amendment.
Pass a National Reciprocity Act stating that concealed carry permits are covered by Article IV, Section 1 of the US Constitution, just like drivers licenses and marriages.
The fix NFA (no we can't just repeal it, parts of it are useful)...
- Remove everything that isn't a firearm -- specifically remove suppressors
- Keep the original legal definition of a machine gun, not the twisted nonsense the ATF has tried to invent without legislative authority over the last four or five years.
- Change the name from AOW (which was never accurate) to Disguised Firearms and narrow the definition to only include disguised firearms.
- Eliminate "short barreled" anything -- make anything with a barrel less than 12" a pistol, and every firearm with a barrel over 12" either a rifle or shotgun.
- Only machine guns, Disguised Firearms, and "Destructive Devices" would require registration, and require ATF to process registrations within 90 days.
- Eliminate import restrictions, if a product would be legal if made in the US, then it can be imported.
- Eliminate restrictions on so-called "armor piercing" ammunition - the definition used never had anything to do with performance and never made any sense.
Finally, not really a firearms issue, but limit the law enforcement power of federal agencies to only be exercised on federal property. Move all other federal law enforcement to the US Marshals Service to establish a single standard for training, conduct, and performance. Other agencies would regulate and/or investigate as applicable, but actual enforcement would be handled by the US Marshals Service.
