What is so wrong with a question, on the upcoming US Census, of US Citizenship? IMO, it should be for who is here legally. If areas are kowtowing to allowing illegal aliens, then they shouldn't get as much federal money for that area.

Without the need to clarify politics, I have a copy of the census my grandparents were put into and it clearly asked citizenships.
This is America and since the census is soely for statistical data, everyone should list citizenship. This helps the government, federal, state and local make determinations on many topics.
As for how it impacts regional lines drawn and associated with party lines etc, why not. One must be and should remain to be a citizen to vote. Voting is a right, a right of US citizens. So I don’t see the problem. This is not political unless we make it so. If one party wants to count non citizens and not declare the number associated with regions and states then that seems to be the ones who are aiming politically for an advantage.
My Family, my wife and even one of my children were born abroad, some elected citizenship and vote, the ones who did not understand and quietly complain, full knowing they made a choice, so I say-I don’t want to hear it. Thank you for your service.

CSM Darieus ZaGara The problem here is the social engineering behind it. If it only didn't count non-citizens, there would be no problem. But the Republican strategist pointed out that not only would non-residents avoid filling out the form, but also legal voting residents would as well. Since it would be legal voting residents more likely to vote for the other party, he stated they should do it.
Now if the form simply stated, "is this person legally able to register to vote?", the aim of your post would be met without the baggage. But it looks like the baggage is why the question is being asked in the first place.

I think you and I interpret this article very differently. As for the legality, plotting etc. it does not matter to me. My only take is that, while everyone should be counted in a census, their citizenship should also be. The lines for voting should be drawn based on data regarding US citizens.

CSM Darieus ZaGara - Hard to say how this will turn out in court. I'd just like to point out from a legal perspective why something was done is important and can impact somethings legality.

It’s a resident issue rather than having anything to do with status. Congressional districts are based on residents and it’s a zero sum game. Representation is for all residents. I don’t recall the exact number on average for a district, it it seems to be around 40,000. We are expecting over a million new residents due to catch and release along with lain old illegals. IMO, that and the popular vote is the strategy to dominate in the political arena thinking in the near term future. May be telling you something you already know.
