Yeah, that one's definitely way long overdue...when my next younger brother, the one I commissioned when he finished Kings Point, was there, is found out that that the school is the only svc academy allowed a battle pennant in its flag, specifically because their midshipmen were among those lost on the Murmansk convoys...I don't know about the state maritime schools, however, I know one is allowed for USMMA, that I'm sure of...there was a WW2 film that went into that aspect with Raymond Massey and Humphrey Bogart, I'll try to find a freebie copy or the trailer for it on YouTube or some other site....

Thanks for a great post. These guys were all volunteers for one of the most dangerous jobs during WW II. Lots of stories about their service in the Atlantic and trips to Russia, but they also did a great job in the Pacific theater.
A well-deserved honor.
