China will remain the "primary challenge" to the United States military for as long as a century, warned President Donald Trump's nominee for chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Thursday.
China had learned from watching the US go to war in the Middle East, and was using those lessons to advance the development of its own military, said current Army Chief of Staff General Mark Milley at his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
"China went to school on us," Milley said, responding to a question from Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine of Virginia.
"They watched us very closely in the First Gulf War, the Second Gulf War. They watched our capabilities. And in many many ways, they have mimicked those, and they have adopted many of the doctrines and organizations."

It'd be more accurate to say that they're going to take our place by 2050. GDP and defense spending projections estimate that by 2045, China will have obtained military parity with the United States. By 2050, they will have surpassed us. And that's all assuming our economy doesn't collapse like a sunken souffle, which is definitely a possibility considering our national debt has literally increased 100% over a span of ten years with no sign of slowing at all.
That's not to say we wont be able to stand up to them in the same way the Soviet Union stood up to us for a time, but just remember where that ultimately got the USSR.

This could be as misleading as President Bush's advisors believing Iraqis wanted democracy. The Chinese for centuries wanted to be left alone and the Chinese today want little more than $$$$. They are being more aggressive however I can guarantee is it totally different than the Russians and more along the Colonial British Empire. How many wars did Britain fight outside of France than did not have anything to do with money? The Chinese will never benefit fighting a war with the US because they want our $$$ and attacking your bank tends to cut off money. The Chinese are by no means to be taken lightly, you just need to understand their intentions.
