The Obvious Message the Media Missed About Mass Murder
I'd like to see them do an honest multivariate comparison of family, felony, and public mass shootings.
Just about every day in Chicago there is a felony mass shooting - yet no news. Why? It would work against the gun control narrative and possible demonstrate the failures within urban areas under historic democrat control.
As for the media - one of the most influential—yet least-discussed—commonalities among public mass shooters is the role that the media play. Perhaps the most reliable predictor of future mass shootings is … media coverage of past mass shootings. Researchers have found that mass shootings (as well as the threat of mass shootings) are strongly correlated with earlier recent mass shootings—typically within two weeks. Thus part of the solution, ironically, is restraint in covering and or promoting the stories in the MSM and other social media. In recent years, police and politicians have begun to recognize this effect and are now taking steps toward trying to stem the influence of mass shooters.
