Hate to draw the comparison of the constitutionals "I" word with him and then POTUS R.M. Nixon that rumor had it by his war powers act move withdrew to Camp David (escaping the frustrations from both Media and Watergate investigation) then vented by having ordered the doubling-down of air strikes on North Vietnam...can't prove it by me but when I heard it years later had supposed it true that while there is why my float on the boat tour with the US Navy got extended by three months in 72 .

It seems the prior POTUS did something similar and as I recall it didn't turn out too well.

SPC Kevin Ford - Oh Puleese. They don't have to fire on 100 troops they merely have to surround them. It's multiple thousands against less than 100 there General Santa Ana. Your not going to deter or win a war with those numbers. We lost as soon as Turkey called our bluff which we are NOT prepared for a War with Turkey in the Middle East. Especially with our current issues with Iran and Russia in Syria. That would have been a World War not just a skirmish with Turkey.

SPC Erich Guenther - Lol, surround them? They were spread out and Turkey is doing airstrikes. Surround them with bombs? Lol. What do you think we still do, line up, march toward each other and shoot. They are not going to start hostilities in an area with US troops.

Um, yes they would. And finding less than 100 U.S. Troops and rounding them up is easily done when you have thousands of troops. U.S. Troops are not going to open fire on a NATO ally and if someone gave that order it would have far reaching ramifications far beyond just Turkey's membership. That would be a decision for NATO to make and NATO would need to kick them out of the alliance first. No move or resolution to do that sooooo.......so much for your military deterrence using 100 troops theory. I don't see NATO in Syria........do you?

SPC Erich Guenther - Also the NATO alliance is all about making compromises at times to hold the alliance together. Not like the Democratic Congress where you can attempt to tell another party your way or the highway.......that does not work in a military alliance and soon it will no longer work in the Congress after the next election.

Since we've backed out of the area, naturally they will.
