PO1 H Gene Lawrence She's a vote counter so I'd be extremely surprised if she took this step without the votes. Conviction in the Senate is a completely different matter, but I'd be surprised if this vote didn't pass. Possible, but I suspect unlikely.

Hopefully this turns into a huge black eye for Pelosi's political career.

I already think she is doomed as Speaker and will not survive the election in that role. Time will tell. She does not strike me as politically smart. The intelligent path here where she would have won this issue would have been to vote to Censure Trump first (she would have had the votes for that). Wait for him to repeat the behavior then move to impeach. Had she taken that more rational path she would have the votes now for impeachment and it would have been a done deal. Instead she jumped right for the sledgehammer allowing Trump supporters to allege unfairness and partisanship. Extremely stupid of her and now we have this prolonged National Nightmare which she has a high probability of losing because she could not make a level-headed decision.

I think she had to bring to a vote, now it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

The vote is on the feelings of the House........that is what a resolution is. They are not voting for a course of action (impeachment proceedings) which is what Republicans asked for. It is another manipulative political slight of hand which unfortunately the original poster always falls for.
