Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs from chilly Northern VA. It's very quiet as we are on two hour delay for school start. I am sure you are all getting excited about the upcoming trip to Costa Rica.
Strategic leadership, an excellent topic for this morning. We don't get a team of perfect individuals to lead; what we do is convince our team that they can be outstanding. And then they are. That's what we who have served do so much better than those who have not. We take much more diverse folks and help them become more than they thought they could. That's why they ultimately hired me into the school system; I could and did help many students see possibilities and then achieve much more than anyone thought they would.

Strategic leadership requires you to provide general guidelines for what you want done, give them the basic skills and tools to do it and then staying out of the way while your people get it done! And, finally, giving them the credit when you are finished!
