This is getting ridiculous. Did the Pentagon forget what the definition of UNIFORM is. In the military, your identity is that of soldier, sailor, airman, marine. Not by your religion, gender...

In the 80's, I was assigned to an A team with the 20th SFG and one of the other group had a Sikh soldier and he was wearing a turban, nothing was said. As for sealing a mask, it was not an issue with SF, we didn't train with them.

Personally, I want to know what is next. Are we going to make pink BDU's for gay soldiers? There are MANY reasons for the uniform to be standard for EVERYONE. That we are all part of ONE team and not individuals on the battlefield comes to mind. I see major problems with this too. Try sealing a gas mask over a beard. Not happening. Also, at a distance, how can I tell if you are friend or foe? I swear the Pentagon has been hijacked by SJWs and is not the military I served in. Stress cards? PC cadence? Suede boots? While I absolutely respect EVERYONE serving now, I certainly question the leadership making these decisions to pander to the liberal left.

Okay, wow, where to start.....
1. Soldier is a proper noun.
2. I’m not sure why you think gay Soldiers would want a pink uniform, the only difference between every gay Soldier I’ve known and every straight Soldier I’ve known is the gender of the stripper they marry.
3. In a CBRN risk environment Soldiers with a shaving exemption shave.
4. Special Forces have been wearing beards for years.
5. If the only thing your using to establish PID is a beard, you don’t understand your ROE. Do you want war crimes, because that’s how you get war crimes.
6. Stress cards....nope, not a thing.
7. I not sure what your issue with the rough side of leather facing out on boots, but I infer that you’re saying that you have so little respect for NCOs that all discipline will break down if we use our time for training rather than shinining boots.

I'm not even gonna bother responding to #2 because it was clearly tongue-in-cheek. #3 and #4 are immaterial as they do not apply to the article referenced. As for #5, it is you that obviously does not understand their ROE. In the dark or in action, you don't have time to think, you have time to react....or you're dead. I'll take your word on #6 regarding stress cards but it sure seems to be a common conversation, and PC cadence, try denying that. #7 - Shined boots are discipline and pride. (Shall I comment on your misspelling of "shining" as well if grammar is so important?) That was also done AFTER duty hours so it never interfered with training. #3 is immaterial because the article is talking about being in garrison and as far as I know, we still train in garrison.
