People are morons, and the government is on very shaky ground here.
Note that these are "self-quarantine" and "social distancing guidelines", not laws or orders. Individuals are encouraged to follow them, but in a free society, they don't have to.
Likewise it is not the President who is issuing orders to shutter schools and businesses, it is the governors of the several states. There are both Constitutional and political reasons why this is, and the President is being very shrewd when he handles things this way. It expands accountability across many leaders and both parties, and it allows flexibility for them to deal with things in a manner appropriate to their situation.

I have a harder time finding the justification for releasing prisoners convicted and sentenced for crimes, but arresting people for being out and about. That is one that I don't know how anyone can square the circle.

Around here they are locking down the river. No more than two per boat, no sandbar activities etc. Now my friend lives on the river and has been quarantined with his family for three weeks now. Followed the rules and n=only made necessary trips to the store etc. He has a boat dock on HIS property and doesn't have to launch and interact with anyone. He can't take his family whom he has been quarantined with outside on the river because of the boat limitation...no interactions with another soul all day...did I mention they have been quarantined together. They are pulling boats over and writing tickets and sending them home.

Another issue is the fining of people in churches for having drive in services. Not interacting with anyone at all, sitting in their cars listening to the service and then driving home. They are writing citations for violating the state order...However, you can go to Wal Mart with the masses, go to sonic drive in and sit in your car and eat and interact with the server and go home...how is that different. Constitution is very clear in the free exercise of religion and our current police state is "just following orders"...sound familiar from history!

This has got to stop before it gets out of hand.

It's okay if you are doing what WE (the all knowing politicians) want you to do. Terrifying...

Drive in services were encouraged here over Easter but they did just implement a quarantine because of all those people congregating at Sonic.

Osceola County just implemented a "face-coverings" rule, and, as if their LEO's don't have enough to do already, they are supposed to enforce it.
