I wonder if there is a way for you to promote your atheism without attacking Christianity? It appears not. Your lack of faith shouldn't lead you to always be on the attack of those that do not have the same belief system you do. I see other atheists that can have real discussion about their views without always being on the attack against those with other faiths. You seem to only be able to bolster your lack of faith by attacking other's faith which is petty and likely indicates a real inferiority complex. Minimally it is religious bigotry but you already know that. Remove Christianity and insert Judaism of Islam and your posts would likely be taken down.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Your reference to Hebrews 1:11 came well into the discussion, most certainly after my "Orwellian" comment. I commented because I found it humorous when anyone in any context says "lack of faith is a positive." Just because my mind goes to the more secular definition.
I consider the existence of the physical world around me as evidence of a deity. It consistently operates within an established, orderly, and predictable set of patterns and rules. I consider that evidence of a deity.

"Within the transcripts, Hitler speaks of Christianity as "absurdity" and "humbug" founded on "lies" with which he could "never come personally to terms."
*Cameron, Norman; Stevens, R. H. Stevens; Weinberg, Gerhard L.; Trevor-Roper, H. R. (2007). Hitler's Table Talk 1941–1944: Secret Conversations. New York: Enigma Books.
Maybe it comes as a surprise to you, but some politician's will say anything in public to get elected.

Once again you should take the time to read the comments all the way to the end of the sentence. ***It is not what atheists do in the name of atheism. it is what some do in the cause of ANTI-THEISM.***

Vlad was most certainly and adherent to Christianity, but I don't think his "wars" were religious wars. First, he fought his brother and allies to gain power, then consolidate power. Second, Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II ordered him to pay tribute. He said "No" by impaling Mehmed's envoys and anyone in Mehmed's service that came a calling. I think that makes his wars about power and sovereignty, not religion. But if you must, Yeah go ahead and count him. If I said "no," would it have mattered?

No but laws based in a religious philosophy can and do stand if they serve a secular purpose. I'll agree with you on the liquor sales, but my objections to abortion are entirely secular in nature.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Atheism is a world view even of you do not recognize it as such. Using a fairly standard definition of world view

"The overall perspective from which one sees and interprets the world. A collection of beliefs about life and the universe held by an individual or a group."

Atheist do have a belief system like most world views. Generally, Atheist believe things such as: Humans evolved from other creatures and are just one of many creatures on the planet here by random chance. There is no creator or God that is sovereign over man. That our purpose is "self determined" by each person. That our morals and laws simply come from personal preferences, society, and/or reason, over time. There are no moral absolutes. These few examples (and there are more) form this thing called a world view even if you attempt to deny it.

There are even large atheist organizations that meet as churches do. You have a world view even though you do not think of it as such. Here is a small, very small group of them.

American Association for the Advancement of Atheism
American Atheists
American Humanist Association
Association of Atheists and Freethinkers
Association of Black Humanists
The Atheist Agenda
Atheist Alliance International
Atheist Centre
Atheist Foundation of Australia
Atheist Ireland
Atheist Republic
Atheists In Kenya Society
Atheists of Florida

Atheists also try to recruit members. That is why they have organizations, for people to join and support etc. Your view of God or a lack of God also defines many other things you believe about law, nature etc.

You cannot even be honest with yourself. You are the type of atheist that must lash out at anyone that does have faith in God to attempt to make you feel better about your lack of belief.

Faith or belief does not mean there is no evidence at all. Creation, nature, the perfect balance that allows life to flourish here on earth is evidence of a creator. You think it is all random chance. The odds of all of this being here by random chance requires far more faith and belief in things unseen than a belief in God. There would literally need to be trillions of random mutations and events to get us from no planet earth to a planet and from no life on earth, to life on earth then to the species as they exist today. You have accepted this system of belief in evolution even though science cannot prove it. It is called the theory of evolution for a reason.

Cpl Jeff N. - Skippy, it's not a world view. I can explain my world view if you want, but it is not based on atheism. Besides, are you claiming that atheists like me have the same world view as Buddhists who don't believe in a god? Samkhya Hinduism is atheistic--and I don't believe as they do, nor as the Taoists do.

I don't see and interpret the world based on atheism, I view it based on skepticism and humanism, neither of which is tied to atheism. And I try to get people to think rationally, because most of the time, that leads them to consider what is true, and to base their decisions on evidence and reason. Would I like to deconvert believers? Absolutely, that's not a secret, but I am not going to apply pressure. No, I just want them to think, and one of the best ways to do that is to get them to commit to reading the entire Bible, from cover to cover.

The fine tuning argument is addressed in this post, see https://www.rallypoint.com/topics/atheism/shared-links/truth-saves-2-2-god

Finally, you obviously don't understand the scientific definition of theory, which is as high as one can go in science.

can we dispense with the "Skippy" and any other shin kicking stuff. If the "He did it first" defense applies... I suggest we all learn from Omar Muhktar.

"They are not our teachers."
