So many people think every one who served in Vietnam came back broken, drug and/or alcohol addicted and with PTSD. It isn't true.

two weeks after I came back from vietnam, after being discharged two weeks late, for convience of government because I got bumped off the plane so some one of higher rank could go home, I interviewed for a job a a General Motors Foundry. The interviewer said I see you have been in the military for seven years 4 yrs. marine corp 3yrs army./ You will probably quit in a couple months, I don,t think we want you. I went home, couple hours later the phone rang. I could start to work 2nd shift next day. My senority date was 6/6/66. I started on production and got on Maintance it took me 8yrs to get a journeymans card. I was a Millwright, repaired factory equipment and we kept the place running. 4,500 people worked their then. The work was hard and dirty but the pay and benefits were good. I retired after 35 actual years and I was never laid off. Semper Fi.
