That's a concept that I really fail to understand - if you don't ALREADY have a gun you will go down and put yourself on a "do-not-sell-me-a-gun" list.
Okay so far but I have a couple of questions relating to the purported reasoning behind this law:
Is Virginia a state that issues concealed weapons licences to anyone?
Have the federally mandated background checks not (say it ain't so) working?
Are not suicidal people in Virginia barred by the back-of-the-car gun wholesalers to purchase?
What will the suicidal purchaser be placed on trial/what charge if he succeeds?
Will the gun companies be relieved of the (perceived) responsibility in the suicides death?
Will Virginia be held responsible if the person attempts or succeeds suicide?
.
My response is:
I wish them all the luck - I think luck will have a lot to do with the success of this bill.
.
My opinion is:
It feels like another do-something-quick-quick bill to make it look like the Virginia Legislature is accomplishing something (Lookie! We did this!)
I think that since the push back against Virginia's lawmakers includes that 40% of all pistol and rifle purchases nationwide in June 2020 (and likewise earlier) have been new owners/first time buyers - the bill is to keep Gun-Control alive in Virginia.
