All these statues and monuments existed during the Obama Administration. Nothing was done then, so why is it a problem now?

Pittsburgh began its existence as Fort Duquesne. Fort Duquesne was blown up by retreating French soldiers to prevent the British from occupying it, so the British built Fort Pitt. Fort Pitt was leveled as the city grew around into Pittsburgh.

So Fort Duquesne and Fort Pitt were both torn down centuries before I was born but everyone around here still knows they existed.

1SG (Join to see) a significant majority, yes. And more to the point, no one has tried to raise a French fort on the site since then so I guess we’re not repeating it.

Morning Chip,
Good piece with some interesting history, there are some distortions however. Every person and every action needs to be judged against the canvas “at the time” it was made. This person made some good points, but he omitted some also. I almost didn’t watch the entire video when he made the statement that our Country was founded on slavery. The entire story is slavery was common all around the world at that time, and it wasn’t limited to blank people. Was it right? No. It’s just how it was. Our Country was founded, with a system of government that allows for the correction of such evils. It worked! Then in marched the Democratic Party and kept the hate going with much of what this person is talking about. The up of it is that our system of government is sorting it out. The problems won’t be solved by ill conceived policies, the problems can only be solved by hard work and family.

I was going to go on about how black people weren’t the only ones taken advantage of, and cite a few examples, but we all know them, maybe not some of the geographically local ones. In my background, in my parent’s time, it was OK for companies to drop off dead bodies on the porches that were killed at work. Was it right? No. It’s just how it was.

I digress, back to this video. This person implies it’s OK for these rioters to pull down statutes, he identifies all the unjust ones, he didn’t identify the justified ones. By not condemning the mob pulling these statues down, he embraces them. This is how mobs work. Let our government work to sort out the bad from the good, and take care of these injustices; if we don’t, we will never know where the mob will strike next. That’s a scary thought. MHO
