MSgt Don VandeBogert - However many states agree (even the California Supreme Court) that someone forcing themselves into a home is considered reasonable cause to respond with deadly force.

Agreed. She was put in danger by an idiot. The idiot lost and this was an obvious case of self defense. Unfortunately not all states view and enforce castle doctrine the same way, which they should. IMHO, people should have the same right to protect their property as they do their life. If idiots didn't threaten either they would live longer.
