As in most items, the value is associated with the rarity of the item in great or even good condition. Old baseball cards [so many were thrown out], GI Joe dolls in good condition, first editions of books, etc.

Damn, that's a lot of money for a car I wouldn't feel safe driving. Maybe I've matured enough I could now handle cars like the ones shown in the article.
