I've been hearing bits and pieces of stories about problems with food supply. Earlier this year (2020 of course) there was a news item about a potato shortage (equivalent in America to a cabbage shortage in Korea). Inasmuch as we've been having food delivered, we've only made to quick trips to any store in the past seven months and, therefore, can't see what is on the shelves. Does anyone else have insight into this? Would it be a good idea to lay in a supply of survival food?

I remember reading an article a few months ago about some crops were destroyed because they could not get to the market in time due to COVID-19. I think production across the US and overseas has slowed due to the pandemic which is causing shortages on certain items. The ramen noodle shelves are still empty at the store round the corner from me. But toilet paper and paper towels are making a come back. :)

I shop at Walmart and it is still pathetic here. I do my shopping at the beginning of the month and send someone out a few times for a few items. I did today and she couldn't get half of what I need.
We still have a limited amount of toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, meat and vegetables on the shelves.
I'm in Tennessee but my daughter is in Connecticut and says there shelves are stocked there. It makes no sense.

the potato shortage was short lived due to problems with to much rain during harvest, this year is very different, the potato's came out of the fields looking like they were ready for the stove

This makes me want to cry. I was stationed there and grew to love kimchee. I just had to get past the smell to try it. I know how important this is in S.Korea. It is a major piece of their diet.

you sound like my wife, her sister in law is Korean and got her eating it. Stinks up the whole house when she opens a jar of it

This is sad news MSgt Thomas Clifford; however, natural causes do destroy crops and the past year has certainly had its share of natural disasters
