A rebellions will have 3 components: The Leader. The Followers. The Violence.

- Trump lied about the election fraud and incited his followers.
- Many of his followers became rabid for Trump's cause.
- The followers acted violently at the Capitol Building and are threatening more violence.

If you need an example just look at the American Revolution. Trump and some of his followers are guilty for fomenting a rebellion.

Any soldier or sailor that acted like this would certainly be court-martialed in absentee, why does this kind of leadership get condoned by Republicans by tangential disregard, but if a Democrat does it-it's Socialism or Communism.
Oh, I know why: the Republicans want to demonstrate there failure to get rid of identity politics among Democrats, but have no problem adopting it for themselves.

I think the term you were looking for was absentia. And, to criticize the left, or the right, is not identity politics.

SFC Melvin Brandenburg - Identity Politics: a tendency for people of a particular religion, race, social background, etc., to form exclusive political alliances, moving away from traditional broad-based party politics. So the Republicans coming to defend their "Dear Leader" is most certainly identity politics and overt apologetics.
