The "three strikes" laws were pushed by private prisons as a means to lock in their revenue streams. Not a fan of these laws.

Three strikes took discretion out of the hands of the judges and forced mandatory time. This is one of the reasons prisons ended up overcrowded. Who exactly is still advocating for this law in 2021? I don't think criminals are thinking about that third strike when they're out committing crime.

I can't figure out which side of this issue You're coming down on. You argued both sides of it in Your comment.

SGT (Join to see) - I'm against the three strike law. In the article it mentioned that this was supposed to be a deterrent which is why I said they're not thinking about the 3rd strike when they recidivate. If they do it's probably more like I'm going to do everything not to get caught doing this crime. I'm all for keeping violent offenders of the street but there were cases of felons getting long sentences after getting arrested for petty crimes that normally wouldn't have warranted such a sentence. Leave it in the hands of the judges is what I'm saying.
