I believe his biggest impact to America were his essays promoting freedom for the country from the yolk of England. His essays became wide spread and became national and strategic messages to our citizens. He helped fuel the passion and hate for our colonial master. Mr. Paine was quite instrumental in our war for freedom. George Washington fought with a musket, Thomas Paine fought with his printing press.

Both Common Sense and the American Crisis were invaluable, as was (if John Adams' note is true) was his assistance in drafting the Declaration of Independence. His later Rights of Man, Age of Reason, and Agrarian Justice were also magnificent, if somewhat socialist in nature.
