Alabama residents are still contributing to a tax in support of the Confederacy — 150 years after the American civil war came to an end.
Introduced for paying soldiers pensions and widows, the tax currently funds a memorial park for the Confederacy in Mountain Creek, Alabama.
The remainder of the tax, or roughly 99 per cent of it, is allocated for other means, the Associated Press reported. It is the last remaining levy associated with the confederacy.

"Supporting the Confederacy" is a bit of a stretch in the phrasing.
Remembering some former citizens might be better.
I am not a counter-culture guy. History happened; why try to destroy or erase it.
