US report: Taliban will likely curtail Afghan women's rights

U.S. intelligence agencies are warning that any gains in women’s rights in Afghanistan made in the last two decades will be at risk after U.S. troops withdraw later this year.
An unclassified report released Tuesday by the Director of National Intelligence says the Taliban remain “broadly consistent in its restrictive approach to women’s rights and would roll back much of the past two decades’ progress if the group regained national power.”
It’s the latest U.S. warning of the consequences of the Afghan withdrawal now underway, two decades after an American-led coalition toppled the Taliban. Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said Sunday that there would possibly be “some really dramatic, bad possible outcomes” for Afghan forces left on their own to counter the Taliban, but also noted, “We frankly don’t know yet.” And CIA Director William Burns told Congress in April that the American ability “to collect and act on threats will diminish.”

Sad day for women's rights. Perhaps, if Mr. Trump were still president the Taliban would at least think about keeping the status quo but with jittery joe I doubt they will even pretend to honor the changes made.

Considering even back in running out on the Vietnamese and letting the Communist take over Biden was also party to that disgraceful sellout and Here We go again with that complete lack of support and respect for the victims in other countries. Once again He sells out everything that is right as well as our credibility as a nation AGAIN ! Never mind all the lives that have been lost and the time involved. He and the Democrats left the Vietnamese defenseless against the Communist onslaught and now they are selling out people's freedom and survival in their usual manner to the enemy. Biden and His Rat buddies have shown for decades they couldn't care less about Americans let alone people elsewhere We tried to help. Well its ok to riot, burn and murder here so why should He care about anyone elsewhere either ?

The Afghans had twenty years of help to make their country something they want of it and they did not. While we were there they knew how things were under the Taliban and I believe having been there they love their opium and man love Thursday to much to make changes. Democracy is hard and the easier is to allow the Taliban to make decisions for them.
We never should have been in Vietnam and supporting the corrupt South Vietnamese government was the wrong thing to do. We did things right with Germany and Japan and how we messed these other two up is beyond me. Maybe we got soft and Afghanistan will probably never be a world contributor in my life time. I will also never be able to visit a peacetime country there like our Vietnam vets have been able to.

MAJ Byron Oyler - I can't argue with all You have to say, there are things We should not have become involved in at those levels ie sending in troops. In Vietnam Supporting the French to occupy another country as they had for 150 years wasn't a good move. Understandably they didn't want foreigners running their own country and and asked for help on that which was ignored. Vietnam though has been moving forward despite things and not as a North and South but one country. The bottom line is there are things not be become involved in but once a commitment is made not to run out on it. There needs to be a little more care on what options We start with on getting involved in the first place. The domino effect however in terms of Marxist Socialism Communism is very real and needs to be a concern even right here at home in the United States.

SSG Paul Headlee - Exactly, unless Your goals are clear and are followed up on don't even get involved. Once our Government however is involved and a commitment has been made running out is the wrong thing to do.
