One of the greatest skills acquired by a SM during their service which may or may not be transferable to the civilian sector is the ability to sleep anywhere anytime under any conditions.

SSG Jacey Roncali I have to admit I've considered putting a book together with pictures of a number of the places I've slept while in the service. From standing up in cattle cars to sleeping in tracks while rolling to catching Z's in fighting positions we've all been there! Great post we can all remember!

THAT sir would be a great photo-journal!! For a USO Volunteer at Boston/Logan there was nothing more beautiful than watching over a sleeping warrior. Sono profondo.

I have gone to sleep in almost every position and location in my short three year enlistment back in the 60s,from mortar attacks to sleeping walking upright, covered in leeches ln monsoons, but could not shut my eyes waiting for the chopper taking me out of the field ,longest night of my life.
