Very cool, but I could never do it for the simple reason I have zero mechanical abilities. However, just looking at it I could can only imagine how fun a person(s) could have on that baby. That would make a great dive boat etc...

LTC (Join to see) Nice! Unfortunately that thing will suck a Lot out of Your Budget. Maintenance of Any Ship is Always an Expensive Proposition.

Chip you know what they say; The happiest days of a mans life, the day he buys it and the day he sell it.

LTC Jeff Shearer especially if he sells it and makes a few million because it's only one of a handful left in the world and because of its D-Day lineage

This comes to mind if they are somehow able to make it look like it was armed to the teeth when it was a harbor defense boat.

A friend of mine loved boats and subscribed to a boat magazine. There was a story about a fellow who owned a tug boat company in Seattle. He bought a Tug boat in England that pulled a British Battleship off a sand bar during a sea battle during WWII. The boat was bought, brought to a dry dock n a boat yard. Some Exotic hard wood can not be imported in bull. But the same exotic wood can be imported as a “kit”. So all the wood furnishings and panels etc were made out of pine, the pine was used as templates so exotic wood kits could be manufactured. The engines could not be pulled due to their size so they were rebuilt in the Engine bays. As completion date approached there were three crews working 24/7. All this was done so the ship would be ready for the spring opening at his private Island. It blew my mind out of the water thinking of the cost. Yes, rebuilding a ship can suck some money, doing it the way this guy did really sucked some money.
