SrA John Monette - Is that how reporting works? They go to you? I think you've misunderstood the process. Reporting to someone means YOU go to THEM...

Imagine being told to report to the Chief master Sergeant or Commander and then sitting around waiting for them to come to you... Is that how the AF worked back in your day?

Corrupt Creepy Joe is a freaking delusional moron when it comes to gun control let alone anything. They continue going after law abiding citizens. And fail to address the issue of FELONS getting and using firearms which they know they can’t touch. And the weak liberal criminal justice system turns these felons out with only a slap on the hand. Meanwhile law abiding citizens are the ones who suffer. Finally according to Corrupt Creepy Joe the Constitution is not absolute….that also applies to his fake President.

Lt Col Mark Avery - so if i own a business and post a sign that says NO FIREARMS, you want customers to ignore that sign? simply because they think they have a "right" to carry a firearm anywhere they want to?

SrA John Monette - I'm glad to take on those questions.
Yes, a convicted rapist/murderer/etc indeed should be able to legally own a firearm after having completed the full sentence in my opinion. I would add that the sentence should be sufficiently severe to ensure the person being released is not the same dangerous sociopath as when convicted and sentenced. Unfortunately, the current legal establishment is loathe to hold criminals accountable and provide appropriate sentences. I suspect that judges would be far more likely to sentence criminals based on their potential to harm civil society at the point the sentence is complete rather than some random feeling about why jail time is more harsh than the suffering the perpetrator caused the victim if they were forced to admit the reality that, legal or not, they absolutely will obtain firearms once released.
The second question is a canard in addition to including a false premise - the Second Amendment constrains only the Government, not private businesses. If you own a business and prefer not to do business with some of the most responsible members of society (i.e., those who have completed the requirements necessary to be legally allowed to carry a firearm discreetly), that absolutely should be your choice. As far as I'm concerned, I respect those signs and instruct my concealed carry students to do the same. If it's a place I really would like to do business with, then I may choose to disarm myself, speak to management, and ask why the company doesn't want my business. If they choose not to change their policy, it's totally their call. Most of them end up changing the policy when faced with the reality that putting that sign on the door won't stop criminals, only responsible, trained, law-abiding customers. Of course, that really has nothing to do with this article since I don't know anyone who carries an AR-15 pistol with stabilizing brace as their personal every-day-carry weapon.

Lt Col Mark Avery - very well put Colonel. We should be trying to rehabilitate those criminals that we can. If they cannot be rehabilitated, so be it. They should be locked away. I agree with your suspicion about judges and how they pass sentences. Kudos for you abiding by a business owner's wishes and encouraging your students to do the same. If they choose to ignore those wishes, that is on their head.

Felons in most states have to wait 7 years before being able to petition have their rights reinstated and depending on the their crime it can be a big NOGO and some when their rights are reinstated by their state are receive limited rights like no fire arms of any type but you can have bow but not a crossbow. depending on the crime you may or may not get your gun rights back anyway, and believe me some of these people I have seen over the years as a corrections officer you don't want them to have those right back.
here the problem, the left is beating a dead horse with a stick and they're pretending that this is a new issue when in fact this has been on going for a very long long time.
the lefts ultimate goal it to take away all fire arms and nullify and void out the second amendment.
The lefts biggest reason is simple in the Declaration of Independence it talks about when in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
simply said the left fears that the people of this land will rise and dissolve that government. AND.....

In conclusion we the people of this nation have and did declare the right to dissolve any government that is not following the will of the people, they also fear a people who's God is the God of this land one nation under God with rise up and basically hit the reset button and start over again and they that were in the previous government will now come after them for the wrongs and atrocities that they have committed. ultimately the left fears the 1st and 2nd amendments because it gives power to the people and not the government our legislatures in out states and in Congress work for the people and not the opposite.
