PO1 William "Chip" Nagel $$$ in somebody's pocket...

..."The Pentagon, in an assessment in June 2017, blamed an Afghan minister of defence for saying the unusable camouflage firms were the better design, saying “he liked the woodland, urban, and temperate patterns”.

It was not clear when the order occurred, and under which Afghan official.

Afghanistan has various kinds of terrain, with different kinds of vegetation (or none at all), and it even has seasons when the vegetation changes -- just like about 90% of the world's landmass. No camouflage uniform has ever been a good match everywhere or year-round.

The US forces complained that each of our uniforms didn't match the background when we arrived in Afghanistan. RP probably still has pictures that were posted showing how "bad" our camo uniforms were -- of course if you look at those photos you will see that even in the same photo you will find two or three completely different backgrounds that no one patter could possibly have matched.

Complaining that a uniform is "unusable" simply because it has a camo pattern that doesn't blend with every possible background is complete nonsense. I don't see the Taliban having any problems with their clothes not magically blending with the background.
