This was a genius move on behalf of the Russians to weaken the German army in WWII, but they still lost more people than any other country by millions; the total Russians lost was 27,000,000.

Typhoon was a strategic blunder without equal. Hitler’s megalomania blinded him to the monstrous perils of that operation, with its long supply lines and impending winter. It was doomed to fail.
