Why do so many people hate other people just because they are different?

Because the haters think they might catch something.

This news is alarming PO1 William "Chip" Nagel! I thought the current administration was supposed to be supporting the LGBTQ community.
The article doesn’t state if these deaths were hate crimes.
The local news in MC tonight stated there were 48 murders in Durham NC so far this year and 46 were African Americans and they were killed by other African Americans. The shootings, murders and gun violence in Durham has dramatically increased in 2021. There are almost nighty shoot outs and drive bys in section eight housing in Durham. The loss of police due to retirement and defunding leaves these neighborhoods without protection from gangs and illegal gun violence

I live right next to Durham and it's been bad there for a long time. Statistics also show that crime increased a lot last year too, because of COVID causing so much frustration and it's even worse this year from the prolonged effect. It didn't start getting bad until around June last year, so half the year of good stats were added into last year as well.

Durham has had a bad reputation for many years. Also, there are not less police, defunding the police was never meant to have less police, it was to use the spending for other things instead of so many brand new really expensive cars, and these big military style water cannons etc to use for programs to try to decrease future crime. My opinion anyway.

As a transgender veteran I'm usually aware of my surroundings and I try very hard to tell anyone I'm with upfront that I'm trans so there is no surprise or shock and awe. I shouldn't have to do that but unfortunately that's the world I live in. People are cruel and mean, and people will be bad when they feel intimidated or scared of being with a trans person. I am fortunate enough to blend in with other ladies but that's not true for many trans folks and especially those who are African American. I think we should be able to enjoy our lives just like other people but sadly we have to game out everything we do each day. Maybe things will change.
