A federal judge late Tuesday threw out former President Donald Trump's lawsuit seeking to block a House committee from getting his tax returns.
U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden said efforts by Trump's lawyers to block the handover were wrong on the law.
"A long line of Supreme Court cases requires great deference to facially valid congressional inquiries. Even the special solicitude accorded former presidents does not alter the outcome," McFadden wrote.
McFadden put the ruling on hold for 14 days to give Trump's legal team time to appeal.
A spokesperson for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

If we allow the government to violate the Constitution because it is only a "minor" violation, or because someone "deserves it," or because it's not that much worse than what they already do, then we are admitting that the Constitution is not law, but merely suggestion.
A violation is a violation. Yes, some violations are more shocking, but all are egregious.

It's not an violation because the Committee has a right to ask for those returns. According to the article, they are seeing how well the IRS is doing their job.

Because it's no one's business but his own (or Law Enforcement ie. IRS, if there is an actual problem, not a ginned up one by Political Enemies). and there is no Constitutional requirement to do so when running for President or sitting as President. If you feel so strongly about it, then post your last 20 years of tax returns, including your full name, ssn and current address so we can view them and see just what you've been up to, because inquiring minds want to know!

PV2 Larry Sellnow yeah. And that same 1% of people pay 40-60% of federal tax revenue. And normally those that fall in the poorest 1/3-they get a fat ‘refund’ check (EIC) to waste on BS. You’ll see it more when you graduate from E-2 pay and ease in the tax bracket some.

FN Levi Garcia - I would agree, but disclosure is not a law. It is common practice for candidates to do so. If we pass a law requiring presidential candidates to disclose, what is to stop the government from requiring disclosure by you or me?

Somebody tell the SFC that a politician is NO LONGER A PRIVATE CITIZEN. We have every right to know if Trump's property transactions with all of those rich russiqns were money laundering schemes. Why, because that would mean other people have criminal leverage on him and we cannot have a compromised president.

Because you aren’t a private citizen doesn’t diminish your constitutional rights. As a celebrity Trump was no longer a private citizen decades ago. Owner of Miss America, star of the show “the apprentice “ etc made Trump a celebrity. The only thing being a celebrity does is make it harder for Trump to sue for slander. Politicians also do not lose their constitutional rights. Hate to say it but I wish Pelosi, etc taxes were made public,
