I am thinking there are 3 types of Trump supporters.
- The militia types who are already mad at the world.
- The Politicians who spread lies and hate.
- Supporters who believe all the lies and indulge in hate.

CPL LaForest Gray - I have worked in the National Disaster (ND) field while I was a soldier. After hurricane Katrina the US Government (USG) conducted a large AAR. It mentioned there was no compressive ND plan. There were a bevy of other mistakes mentioned.
The USG developed a comprehensive plan called The National Response Framework (NFR). It states when national and state disasters occur, the government in all haste would charter DHS/FEMA to give an overwatch leadership to the federal agencies and cabinets. Included in that team is the DOD, NGOs, tribal governments. The focus is to support the country and states.
Nested inside the NFR is a Pandemic Annex. By SOP the scientists are the people who should talk to the country about medical matters.
Why was Trump’s course action to lie the worst thing he could have done? With his immense control and lies, nobody had the guts to start the NFR. He lied for several weeks while COVID infected many people. We had no controls like contact tracing. We were beyond our window to have an effective plan early.
FEMA was given the order to execute the NRF in the middle of March. From February until the middle of March the USG did not have a plan. Trump winged it. Trump created a TF to buy PPEs on March 20. Doctors and nurses had to wash PPEs for weeks. If we would have used the NFR in February, the pandemic annex will have illuminated major tasks like scientists communicating with the country and ordering PPEs ASAP.
I don’t buy what some of you say, nothing could have been done. Let me look at Japan and the US. Adjusting for population sizes the US has 17 times more deaths than the US. That is a huge disparity. Obviously Japan mitigated the impact of COVID much better than we did.
We had no plan, a lying president and a control freak. What little window we should have used to plan early was wasted. Would FDR say there are German troop carrier ship off our coasts. There is nothing to fear. The Germans invade. Would FDR say the Germans will just go away. That is what Trump did. He did nothing and did not even try to slow down COVID.
