Sounds like a miscommunication between the Base committee and everyone else. The military does fun runs not just the AF. But perhaps the base could have said look we do not have class awards to give. But we will be happy to get one of our combat reporters here to get the very best shots. And we can record your scores and pick winners by class. Just to try to smooth feathers.
