Most self check outs no whether items have been scanned by the weight of what has been scanned. The bagging area is a scale and if the product exceeds weight exceeds what was scanned a light at the top of the self checkout flashes while it asks you to scan all items. The person assigned up front will offer to help you and will discover the item accidentally missed

There are now cameras above each register and that area. The registers don't appear to be measuring bagged weight anymore. That means there is an AI monitoring the transactions. The two monitors showing you that you are one camera, have a the tell-tale facial recognition framing. So who is providing this technology to Wally World? I could see Facebook (NSA/META) doing it to glean more intel data points on folks for their AI constructs, our digital clones created to predict our moves, decisions, and actions.

"Do not steal from Walmart self-checkouts…you will get caught."
Yeah, but just walking flat out the door without even bothering to fake a self-checkout is OK. It was Christmas time and some moron decided to lift a Reese Class V receiver hitch with his five finger discount. I eyed the guy acting odd then stripping off the Spyder anti-theft device. I beat feet to the Garden Center register where the guy was caught up in the congestion of the checkout line and people shopping. I told the area manager there that was assisting the two register clerks that a man was coming with that receiver hitch and that he was in the act of shoplifting. There just so happened to be a uniformed Police Officer there in the check out. Just then, the man ran past with the product. I pointed him out and they both just stood there. It was the door greeter Lady who stopped the young man to ask for him to show a receipt. As I followed up behind him, he began trying to push the Lady aside. I stepped in and held the guy. No one came and he worked free of my gripe (I am a Disabled Vet). I ended up chasing him into the parking lot, get detailed information on his vehicle and his description. The LEO, still at the counter, stated that is was not her jurisdiction. The two moonlighting LEOs at the front of the store seemed completely disinterested in the matter and refused to take the evidence. They claimed that they only act upon Walmart's discretion and the manager declined to pursue the matter. The manager and the Police completely discounted that the man did physically assault the Lady that would not allow him to pass without a receipt and that it happened within the store. The perp knocked over an elderly man as he rushed to the Garden center. Nice to know that Wally World controls the Law. By the way, the LEO told me not to get involved next time. I told him that next time the perp won't be able to walk out the store.
