Nice history. The commanding officer of the USS Johnston unilaterally rushed to attack the IJN which was then followed by the other 3 destroyers.

When all the IJN aircraft carriers were sunk the consequences meant we owned the seas and the air. It would be just a matter of time Japan would capitulate.

The IJN lost her carriers. The Germans lost most of her tanks and fuel was impossibly inadequate. We also killed most of the seasoned German pilots, so we owned the sky and eventually the ground. They had 1000 jet fighters but only 200 could fly at one time. We had thousands of P-51 Mustangs. It was no contest.
