People in one Cape Cod town braced the frigid winter waters and air temperatures Sunday to raise money for a good cause.
About 40 people took part in the Cape Cod Marine Corps League’s first annual Polar Plunge Fundraiser. State Representative Steven Xiarhos was among the group who braved 28-degree weather at Glendon Road Beach in Dennis. Xiarhos, who led plungers and onlookers in a pledge of allegiance before hitting the water, added that it is important to honor the members of the military for their sacrifices.
“It’s a great way to come together,” he said. “It’s very patriotic and I think that’s important.”
