I was stationed there for a stretch PO1 William "Chip" Nagel . I would volunteer if I could to go on the training just to get away for a bit from the base if I were still there!

I attended a med course for Navy Corpsman at LeJeune in '68. It was not a fun place to be stationed with only "Go-Go" bars in Jacksonville, NC. It was, and reportedly is, a good training site however.

SSG Bill McCoy I was there for a good stretch, and you are right, there isn't really much to do there.

Cpl Vic Burk - It was, and probably still is, as bad as Ft. Leonard Wood used to be. It was called, "Ft. Lost-in-the-Woods," for a long time. Today. with the MP, Engineer and Truck schools there, civilian retail areas have vastly expanded providing lots of restaurants, shopping, hotels and more.

"Where do you go from here in the Marine Corps?
Where you go from here may depend on your MOS, but will largely be based on the needs of the Marine Corps. So, don’t set your heart on one place with the expectation of going there, things might work out differently. Each base offers your essentials like housing, schools, and hospitals."
