That's what happens when a nation has a military that has a small percentage of professionals leading a majority of conscripts.
Compare that to the highly-motivated, spirited fighters indicative of the vast majority of Ukraine's forces.

I have such respect for the Ukrainian people in their fight, but I fear the consequences. Putin cannot afford to look weak. If he cannot take this Ukraine, I fear he may decide to completely destroy it, perhaps even with the use of nuclear weapons. Make it a wasteland.
