Kansas City students walk out of school to protest anti-LGBTQ bills in Missouri legislature

About 100 students, parents and staff marched out of school to protest bills in the Missouri legislature that they say target LGBTQ children and their families.
About 100 students, parents and staff from Crossroads Preparatory Academy in Kansas City walked out of school Wednesday to protest legislation in Missouri they say targets the LGBTQ community.
“We are here because we need to protest against the bills that are set out to be oppressive towards our LGBTQ sisters, brothers and siblings,” said Syd Black, a senior who organized the walkout.
The 18-year-old outlined a number of bills entered into Missouri’s current legislative session that he said are especially harmful to transgender people of color.
One such bill would ban transgender women from participating in sports teams that match their gender identity, while another would outlaw gender-affirming hormone replacement therapy and surgical procedures for minors — and revoke the medical licenses of doctors who provide it.
Other proposals take aim at materials about race and sexuality in schools and libraries — including a "Parents' Bill of Rights" that won initial approval from the Missouri House on Tuesday.
“It just creates an unrepresentative environment for people questioning their sexuality,” Black said. “Sexuality is natural, straight or not. Not everybody has to be sexualized and made out to be malicious.”
Braving high winds and the 38-degree temperature, protesters walked nearly a mile from the school on Broadway Boulevard to the Jackson County Courthouse, chanting and carrying signs and LGBTQ flags.

And the real question is what do the Bill's actually say. The reporter failed to do his homework and provide the bill numbers and link so the public can easily form an informed opinion. Leads me to question the reporters own stance on this. Thanks for the share PO1 William "Chip" Nagel

Major, Not having read the legislation, I confess my own opinion or bias on this issue. I do not believe sex change operations or puberty blockers should be given to children.

Irrelevant, Major! All that matters is "continuing the narrative" from the Left, rather than factually noting the content in said bill. Witness the current drama regarding Florida's "Parental Rights in Education" bill, which has been renamed the "Don't Say Gay" bill by the Left.

SR Kenneth Beck - You are correct, Chief, in concluding that "gender identity" does not address the issue of a "biological" male or female. Since "gender" has now become a social construct rather than an exact biological determination, in the instances where an exact biological determination needs to be given, such as for the basis of identity, allowing biological males to dominate biological female sports, etc., then make laws based upon biological sex rather than the general term of "gender". This puts an instant end to the "Gender Identity" question. Not that the Left will allow that to happen though if they get their way, because that will get rid of a whole boat-load of "Victim-hood" mentalities and Special Statuses demanded these days.

PO1 John Johnson not many have the understanding that you have accurately stated. I don't view this as a Left or Right issue... I view this as "Societal" issue since there will be a variety of views on both sides. As a Societal issue it will ultimately be dealt with in a politcal setting. My only point on your response is now, everything under the sun automatically gets assigned a "political ideology" these days, by the Politicians and then the masses in order to keep the fight going, and I apologize for dragging "the Left" into my statement.
