I was stationed at Fort Hood for over a year and a half after I returned from Vietnam. I don't believe I knew who Fort Hood was named after, I just assumed it was some famous military guy. I have an opinion on the monuments but I don't think they should be renaming posts.

I fully agree with you on this. The monuments are something that can be discussed or whatever but going around and changing names of bases or ships, etc. , is going a little over board!

I definitely agree SFC William Farrell! I live near Ft Bragg and cannot imagine changing its name! Many Soldiers went from Ft Bragg to Vietnam and the 82nd is now in Poland. It’s one thing to move Confederate statues; however, imho, changing the names of Military posts and bases is definitely going too far and blatantly disrespecting tradition.
