The lockdown at a U.S. Marine Corps training center in Twentynine Palms, caused by an anonymous report of shots fired, was lifted on Monday afternoon.
A weapon was inadvertently discharged, said Warrant Officer Brandon Owen, Visual Information Officer at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. He said there were no reported injuries.
All personnel were required to shelter in place while the base police force investigated. The shelter in place was lifted at 12:20 p.m.
Owen said the incident is under investigation.
We have received reports of shots fired on board MCAGCC. The MCAGCC Provost Marshals Office is currently responding to the situation. The installation has entered a lockdown state and all personnel are required to shelter in place. We will issue updates when available."
