What ever happened to the good old days when those that had a grievance with each other, just went across the tracks off of school property, pounded the day lights out of each other, and walked away turning into best friends, shipmate PO1 William "Chip" Nagel ?

"Authorities are still piecing together" the version they want to spin.

So far OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS have told us

-- that the shooter encountered school police officers before entering the school -- followed the next day by a denial that he encountered any one before entering.

-- that the school doors are kept locked except when students enter and leave -- followed by the explanation that the door the shooter just happened to use just happened to be unlocked in the middle of the school day.

-- that the police responded "within minutes" -- and that it took an hour to get a team ready to enter the school

-- that the shooter was stopped by an off-duty Border Patrol officer -- followed a change that the shooter was stopped by a team of Border Patrol officers (still no comment on why federal agents from the Border Patrol were used to assault the barricaded shooter while multiple local police agencies had been on the scene for about an hour).

-- And, most spectacularly, a police sergeant explained to a reporter that police officers went into the school, got their own children out, then waited outside until a team could be assembled to go in to stop the shooter! (I'm sure we will see a denial of that soon)

Well, so far, the "official" version now admits that the Uvalde police all stood around doing nothing for an hour, but it is all being blamed on the "Police Chief" of the School District, because apparently none of local law enforcement had the brains to think for themselves -- until some off-duty feds showed up on their own. The local cops told the feds to just wait, but after half an hour of just waiting the feds said the hell with it and went in on their own ignoring the instructions of the local cops who were too busy arresting distraught parents.

This is the second school shooting in recent memory where the shooter was an outsider who just walked in through an open door and started shooting and then kept on shooting children while the armed police officers stood around outside instead of going in to stop the carnage.

..."The country looks on in the immediate wake of such an attack. But how are those schools and communities impacted by the tragedies a week, a month, or even a couple of years after a mass shooting event?

We look at how the community in Uvalde is processing and take a look back at how other towns and victims are coping with grief."
