..."The Department of Veteran Affairs held their annual Memorial Day ceremony, filled with keynote speakers, musical performances, and the firing of a military rifle volley, a cannon salute, and the playing of Taps.

For Gordon, Memorial Day weekend is more than cookouts and a few days off from work. It's remembering those who served and the sacrifices they made.

"Oh, these guys, all of them. They deserve everything; we wouldn’t be here without them," she adds. "These kinds of events will keep these people in everyone’s memory. Hopefully forever, and unfortunately the World War II guys are kind of fading away. We have to remember them.”
