Michigan candidate for governor, Ryan Kelley, faces misdemeanor criminal charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021 attack at the U.S. capitol.
Kelley was arrested by the FBI Thursday at his home in Allendale in western Michigan. He is scheduled to appear later today at the U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids.
Documents say that Kelley was part of a crowd that tried to disrupt the certification of President Joe Biden as the winner of the November election. The evidence includes photos and videos of the insurrection that were posted online.
Kelley is a Republican candidate for governor who will appear on the August statewide primary ballot. That's not the case for numerous other Republicans who were accused of submitting fraudulent signatures and were dropped from the ballot.

The court's unanimous decisions marked a major setback for the affected candidates, including former Detroit Police Chief James Craig, who have filed legal challenges in an effort to revive their campaigns. Kelley was not among the candidates affected by the signature issue.
The signature issue had scrambled the race for governor in Michigan, just two months before the primary in August."

I know you won’t appreciate this but why now, and why like this. We are heading in a wrong direction in my mind. Using law enforcement to remove your opponents is not a good idea. File charges if he did something wrong. Tell him to turn himself in. A lot of people got caught up in Rudy and Sydney’s lies. Most of the people there that day just got caught up in political propeganda, they were not criminals. But this is getting scary to me. When your supporting the other side, you cheer it on. But how is this different than what Putin does?
