I understand they have a HUGE propane tank...I thought they were off fossil fuels....

While a 2500-gallon propane tank is big, I don't think it is by any means huge. Standard issue in my neck of the woods is 1,000 gallons. Most of our homes would probably fit in the Obama's garage.
