Domestic terrorism lacks federal punishment in U.S.

The U.S. has waged war on global terrorism but there's no federal designation for domestic terror. A new U.S. House bill aims to help federal law enforcement agencies crack down on domestic terrorist activity.
The FBI can label a group as a domestic terrorist organization, but the label has little legal meaning. That's because in the U.S. domestic terrorism isn't a felony.
Soon after an attack targeting Black individuals in Buffalo, New York, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act (H.R. 350), which would require the FBI to report on domestic terror threats and allocate resources accordingly. However, the bill would not criminalize domestic terror support or actions as the U.S. does for foreign terror organizations.
One of the reasons the U.S. struggles to act on domestic terror is concerns banning labeled domestic terrorist groups would infringe on the First Amendment, according to Rebecca Best, an associate professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City who has studied the difference in policing domestic and foreign terror groups.

I forget where I was watching it, but it was a congressional hearing where AOC was asking an official why none of the people involved in the list of crimes she had just read had been charged with domestic terrorisms. The official's response was that, the way the laws are written, for the crimes to be designated as terrorism, it needed to be linked to a foreign terrorist organization.... which made absolutely no sense.

MSG Stan Hutchison you are right, I'm not counting my chickens before they hatched but I'm saying that this is what Republicans have been saying on Fox Business. And regular Fox News is if they are successful and getting the House and Senate. The Scofflaw department heads Within Homeland Security and the Attorney General's office were going to be in front of a committee but watch the Republicans not tell the Democrat minority leaders who they can and can't pick to help cross-examine it so it won't be a kangaroo court like the January 6th hearing is right now. Democrats will be there to try to defend them and they'll be pretty hard to do when we will have federal law on the books that are not being followed by the attorney general and buy the head of the Department of Homeland Security. At least Democrats will be allowed to be there without any political wrangling like Nancy Pelosi did telling my no leader McCarthy who he couldn't put on the January 6th Kangaroo Court Star Chamber panel.

Correct me if I am wrong, Kevin McCarthy chose last summer to withdraw all of his nominees to the Jan 6th committee — based on the dispute you mention with Nancy Pelosi, however it was over her rejection of his first two choices — and that was a turning point that left the nine-member investigative committee without a single ally of Mr. Trump.
His error has left those Allies of Trump no insight to the inner workings of the committee. It’s been said that many Republicans loyal to Trump are unhappy with not knowing what is happening behind closed doors. Am I right?!?

But I know next year if the House and Senate are Republican and they impeach the attorney general and the Homeland Security chief, the Republicans will not meddle in their choices. And Nancy Pelosi talks about Republicans and the threat to democracy? The first time a 232 years, a speaker of the house told a minority leader who they can and cannot pick. That is unethical
