Well Chip let me tell you a true story. My brother had the unfortunate situation where both his older children were diagnosed in utero with genetic disorders. They doctor recommended they terminate the pregnancy. They said no and that it was God's business and if they have a disorder they will live with it. Guess what...One of those kids is a mechanical engineer working for NASA and the other is in Vet School with no issues from birth. it also happened with a friend of mine who is now a grandmother! What I am saying is that more times than not those tests are not accurate.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth I would submit that the FDA is underfunded to address the NIPT issue. I would submit that they should be funded and empowered to do so. I would also submit that Congress will not act because it would require bi-partisan or non-partisan effort to get such authority enacted for the FDA & after the ruling by SCOTUS re authority in the Act per Congress somehow insufficient, I have little to no faith that Congress could in fact make a law that the corporatists would not attempt & succeed in undermining.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - I owe you an apology. I don't know you and I have no right to call you selfish or any other insult. I've been taking a break from social media for the past few weeks, because I realized that it really brings out the worst, inflammatory part of me. I myself have served 8 years in the PHS (the uniformed service that provides healthcare to, and deploys with, the Coast Guard), and no matter how much we disagree, we're all still brothers and sisters in uniform (despite the fact that I'm not "real military" and I spent my entire 8 years in a comfy job at the NIH).

Take care sir. :)

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - PS I tried saluting you just now, but it won't let me do that unless I sign up for some weird thing that I'm not too familiar with. In any case, I thank you for your service sir.

I find most if not all of the publishing on the Roe v Wade decision fails to address the substance of the matter concentrating on the outcome not the thing(decision) itself. I read the original Roe a few years ago and it was a curious decision different from any other I have read. For professional reasons I read a lot of legal decisions as a compliance pro but am not a lawyer. The original created a right without identifying any source for it proceeding from the constitution. I came to learn that the original decision was viewed as curious on both sides of the outcome. The courts recent decision does not opine at all on the subject but finds no basis for it in the constitution. Given that It finds that the matter is one for the states as custodians of individual rights. This is largely consistent with 10th amendment reserving all powers not explicitly identified to the federal government with the states. I know the emotions on the subject run hot. My wife and I engaged the issue directly before we were married and it continues to be a source of contention 34 years and 3 children later. The press focuses on the polling support for abortion and contrivance it uses frequently in an ongoing effort to inflame the issue. We are a nation of laws not polls. Our founders had many concerns with the future of their efforts and aRepublican rather than democratic outcome given their study of Greece

Where did you get the notion the states are the "custodian" of individual rights not otherwise enumerated in the Constitution? 9th Amendment. We are not a theocracy.

its in the the 10th amendment and a common thread across a bunch of areas of aw. Most immediate example in federal securities law is the prevalence until very recent times of structural law like the 33, 34 and 40 acts having only antifraud provisions while the uniform securities act and related statues in the states are focused on individual protections. While the growth of regulatory obligations is pronounced this tendency is one of the issues that called Warrens Consumer Financial Protection Agency into legal challanges. Your theocracy comment doesn't seem applicable given its definition of a government of a state ( nation) by immediate divine guidance or officials who are considered divinely guided . We are a republican democracy not a direct one like Athens .
